GRATEFUL

Being grateful is a choice. Living in a state of gratitude and thankfulness is something we can choose daily, regardless of what's going on in our lives. It's about perspective.

It's easy to become jaded to the things we've been blessed with in life - our family, friends, our job and the simple things, like a cup of coffee or a day at home. It's easy to get annoyed or frustrated about the things we don't have or the things that haven't worked out. I know I have. I'll admit that the days leading up to Thanksgiving, I've been very ungrateful. I've been annoyed and bratty about certain situations I've had to take care of, instead of looking on the bright side and all that I have and how in the grander scheme of things, it's really not a big deal.

I have so many things to be thankful for this year. God has blessed me with so much - the trips I've taken, the friends I've grown closer with, a family who has supported me through so many different circumstances and trials, a place to live, a great job and the lessons that have made me stronger.

I tend to let holidays pull me into a funk because they don't look exactly like the movies and there aren't always warm and fuzzy one-liners...This year was different. I have such a full heart this year as I sit around the table and play games with my family, laughing and eating food. No matter what today looks like for you, think about everything that has gotten you here and the people that have been there for the ride.

I've been trying to live through a heart of gratitude all year, not just at this holiday, but to be thankful for everything instead of just one day out of the year.

That's all for now,

Shelby
