Fall Feels in Avila Beach

Fall is finally here!

Over the weekend we went to Pismo Beach with my aunt and uncle. They have a trailer they keep over at the coast, so every once in awhile my parents and I will join them and pretend we're camping.

Pismo Beach

We met them earlier in the day, had lunch at a cute little diner on the campsite. I had a greek salad, which was tasty and filling.

Unfortunately, I got sick not long after and I didn't feel like doing much of anything, but I did enjoy taking in the scenery and taking photos, as we walked the pier. But, didn't get to spend as much time on the main street, because I felt so bad.

We went back to their trailer and relaxed for a bit - getting ready for the World Series game and my aunt prepared dinner. We ran to Walmart to pick up a few things, checked into our hotel, then went back to the campgrounds. We hung out, ate, sat around the fire for a bit (because it was COLD) and roasted marshmallows for s'mores, which are my favorite.

I wish I would've felt better, but it was still fun getting to spend time with family and having a chance to clear my mind from the chaos of a busy work week. We went back to the hotel and basically just went straight to sleep.

The next morning, we covered quite a bit of ground. We woke up, got ready, checked out of our hotel and got to it.

Avila Valley Barn

The Avila Valley Barn is one of my very favorite places. It has a country feel and reminds me of Tennessee. I'm a country girl at heart, what can I say? There's a farmer's market, ice cream/candy shop, a pumpkin patch, a little country store with home goods and other baked goods, a corn stand and a petting zoo. This time of year is especially great, because of the seasonal items, like pumpkins, gourds, squash and more. Not only is it aesthetically pleasing for photos, it's just a very relaxing place to walk around.

I picked out a pumpkin, wandered through the store (and bought a few goodies), and fed the animals in the petting zoo. I think I love it so much, because it's all so simple. It has gotten busier from when my family and I started going years ago, but it's still fun to stop by when we're in the area.

Madonna Inn

After the barn, we went to the Madonna Inn for breakfast. This hotel is known for its 110 rooms, which are all uniquely themed and decorated. Think Alice in Wonderland or just about any whimsical, wacky, girly fairytale story you've read or seen in movies. I've never stayed at the hotel itself, but I have eaten there for breakfast and attended a bachelorette party, where we all sat in the very pink grand ballroom for dinner. It's like a little secret garden hideaway. A small rose garden also adorns the front of the building.

You can see more of the hotel, here: https://www.madonnainn.com/.

Pismo Pier

Because I was feeling much better, we went back down to the pier to walk around. We walked to the end and back, admiring the views and sun sparkling down on the ocean.

We shopped at the outlets for a bit, then came home. It was a beautiful relaxing weekend of family fun and not having any specific plans.

That's all for now,

Shelby
